SUMMER CAMP // ARTUDIO x Kulturka Art Studio // THE FOUR ELEMENTS
Mon, Aug 3 · 9:00 AM
ARTUDIO · Greenpoint
This summer, New York’s ARTUDIO will become, for several weeks, a space of international artistic collaboration. The studio will host the European art studio Kulturka Art Studio , dedicated to art education and developing creativity through visual artistic practice. It is a studio founded by Viola Jocz — a renowned educator and curator of children's art. Kulturka’s work is followed by an international community of over 200,000 people. The studio’s original programs are implemented with children, educators, and cultural institutions, and their outcomes are presented and observed by audiences around the world. As part of this collaboration, three on-site, four-day art camps for children will be created. The program is based on Kulturka’s original artistic programs, which combine different fields of art— painting, sculpture, spatial activities, and design. We invite children to an extraordinary, 4-day art camp THE FOUR ELEMENTS , designed for children aged 5 and up, where the main protagonists are the elements: air, water, fire, and earth. During the camp, children will discover how to see the wind, capture the movement of water, express the energy of fire, and interpret the structure of the earth. Each element becomes a source of artistic inspiration. Over the course of four days, children will: – create works inspired by the movement of air – create painterly interpretations of water and its fluidity – design and create a tote bag featuring their own watercolor artwork – create a sculpture — a figure inspired by the elements, based on the Creative Sculpture program These four days take place in a real art studio environment, where children experience the elements and translate them into their own visual language.
