Prospect Heights · Prospect Heights

Littles introduces movement foundations and freestyle through the culture of hip hop. Toddlers must be able to walk! Taught in a dance-party-style format, toddlers and caregivers jumping, bouncing, stomping, social dancing, imaginative movement, and our signature Toddler Cypher. Classes also include somatic movement, caregiver-assisted tricks, story time, and introductions to Brooklyn hip hop culture. At Rikud, we believe children learn to dance for life, not for recitals. Our goal is to help little ones become comfortable moving, grooving, and expressing themselves in community. Along the way, children build coordination, rhythm, confidence, body awareness, and social connection while developing a foundation for freestyle and a lifelong love of movement.

Wed, Sep 16 · 3:15 PM

Prospect Heights · Prospect Heights

Five Elements of Hip Hop After-School Program Inspired by our sold-out Summer Program, this after-school program brings the same immersive approach to Hip Hop into the school week. Each two-hour session includes time for snack, decompression and socialization , followed by a deep dive into a different element of Hip Hop: Breaking, DJing, MCing, Graffiti Writing and Knowledge. Rather than simply taking a dance class after school, students explore Hip Hop as a complete culture. Through movement, music, visual art, storytelling and history, they learn how the elements connect, where they come from and how creativity, individuality and community sit at the center of the culture. The program is intentionally small, giving kids space to unwind after the school day, build friendships and develop real skills with Rikud teaching artists. Each day is focused on a different element.
