The Nest by Wise Owl · Roosevelt Island

Little Readers is designed to support young learners as they begin their journey to becoming confident readers. Through a structured, research-based approach to early literacy, children build essential foundational skills such as letter-sound recognition, phonemic awareness, decoding, and early word reading. Our curriculum blends explicit literacy instruction with engaging, hands-on activities that make learning to read both meaningful and fun. In a supportive environment, children practice blending sounds, recognizing high-frequency words, and developing early reading comprehension skills while building confidence as emerging readers. Kinder Literacy Explorers Building a love of reading, one story at a time A Literacy Enrichment Nest Program Our Wise Words Kindergarten Literacy Club is designed to support and extend the skills children are building in school and help them grow into confident, curious, and capable readers and writers. Through engaging, and purposeful activities, we reinforce key literacy concepts while nurturing a lifelong love of learning. What We Focus On Kindergarteners learn strong letter-sound skills through games that boost reading confidence. They practice correct letter formation, write sentences, and express ideas independently, developing fine motor skills and writing stamina. We strengthen phonemic awareness with sound segmenting and blending to support decoding and spelling. Kids also improve listening, comprehension, and story-telling skills through interactive discussions. Led by experienced educators and based on the science of reading, this club creates a joyful space for Kindergarteners to build a strong literacy foundation.
