Code with Minecraft! Using the Education edition of Minecraft, kids will learn core coding concepts, including sequencing, variables, functions, loops, and if/then conditionals. Age ranges are approximate. There are a total of 36 class sessions for each day of the week during the year. Classes run once a week. Students can take back to back classes to extend their time. There is no class on the following dates: Thanksgiving Break - Mon 11/23-Sun 11/29 Winter Break - Mon 12/21-Fri 1/1 February Break - Sat 2/13-Fri 2/19 Spring Break (MA only) - Sat 4/17-Fri 4/23 Spring Break (Brooklyn only) - Sat 4/24-Fri 4/30 All other dates we will hold class during the academic year Payment Payment is monthly and is evenly distributed over 10 months, for a total of 36 classes during the year. 1 hour classes are $195 per month and 1.5 hour classes are $270 per month Payment will be charged automatically on the first of each month Cancellation You can stop classes at any time, but we require at least 30 days notice in order to stop the monthly payment i.e. if you want to cancel starting in November you would need to let us know by October 1st for us to cancel the recurring payments If you need to switch times during the year, let us know at info@penguincodingschool.com and we can work out another time Levels We will move classes up to the appropriate level during the year i.e. if a student begins in Beginner Python after a few months when the class is ready we will move them up to Intermediate Python without you needing to switch days or times. After School Pick Up (Brooklyn only) We offer pick up from the following schools for our 3:00pm Cobble Hill classes and 3:30 pm Park Slope classes Park Slope: PS 10, 107, and 321 Upper School Cobble Hill: PS 29, 32, 38, 58, and 261 We pick up at dismissal time and walk the kids back to Penguin where they have time to eat a snack, if they have one, and have structured free time before class begins. Pick up is $50 per month. BGL’s After School sessions are held every weekday during the school year at both of our locations: South Slope (479 7th Ave) - Perfect for D&D fans, plus gamers of all passions! Center Slope (310 7th Ave) - An amazing sampling of all our best games! After School attendees get the opportunity to play everything we offer! Each child samples a variety of our best games at the start of the year, then tells us their favorites. From that point onward, we offer two to three activities at each location per day, sorting each player into their most preferred game. Activities include: Dungeons & Dragons Board Games Outdoor Games (including Battle Lab!) Design Your Own Game And MORE! Become an Immortal & play the Immortal Games! After School kids get the opportunity to participate in one of BGL’s most unique and exciting offerings: the Immortal Games! Attendees earn daily merits for their behavior, designs, and achievements. When they earn enough merits, they level up and join one of our five Immortal Houses, teams with distinct characteristics that foster collaboration and companionship. The five Houses compete every year in our Immortal Games! This special experience combines strategy and storytelling, and kids shape the narrative via the choices they make. With hundreds of players and thousands of moves each year, it’s one of the world’s biggest games. SCHEDULE AND PICKUP This after school program meets at our South Slope location, 479 7th Ave @ Windsor Pl , once a week, from 3:30 – 6:00 pm, with an option for extended day. We offer school pick up at select schools at school dismissal. Register for school pick up with your after school program registration. School pickup available from: PS 10, PS 107, PS 130, PS 154, PS 230, PS 295, Berkeley Carroll, St Joseph the Worker, and BSI*. (*We do not pick up at BSI but will work with you to coordinate pick up at the private or regular bus stop. Add-ons: School pickup: $15 per session Extended day until 6:30 pm: $20 per session Our after school programs are not held on days when public school is closed, including for inclement weather. These closures are factored into the program fee. COST The first installment is charged upon registration; subsequent installments are charged on the 1st of the upcoming months. The last charge is on the first of the last month of the semester. If you register after the start of the school year, your fee is prorated. Discounts available: Enrolling multiple days or siblings? Get 5% off all enrollments if you book more than one! Make sure you include all sessions in the same cart to receive this discount. If you need to change your day, location or program during the school year, just let us know! We accommodate changes at no charge, as long as there is availability. If you know your child will be absent for registered sessions, let us know. We can schedule "advance make ups" as well as make ups after the absence. Cancellation of enrollment before the end of the semester may result in an early termination fee of $20 per month enrolled.
