Fort Building (Fall 2026) - Pick-up available from PS 130 Lower + Upper

In this Fort Building workshop, kids will learn about differnt types of shelters and build structures fit for humans, pets, and other creatures (big or small, real or imaginative). Inspired by the natural environment of the KoKo Lot, kids will explore and use critical thinking skills to create their structures. Found objects and other reclaimed materials will be used to build their forts. Pick-up is available from PS 130 Lower and PS 130 Upper. Pick-up is an optional add-on that applies to the full semester. The cost for pick-up is $136 ($17/session). Kids are picked up by a KoKo Teaching Artist at school dismissal time and escorted to the Lot. Kids have snack and playtime until the workshop begins at 3:30PM. Please note: After School Pick up will not be offered on November 3rd (Election Day, remote learning day for NYC Public Schools). Workshop Dates for Fall 2026: 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3*, 11/10, 11/17 (9 sessions total) *Note: After School Pick up will not be offered on 11/3 because it will be Election Day (remote learning day for NYC Public Schools). Dismissal Timing: For Fall 2026, we will have staggered dismissal times as sunset gets earlier. Workshop times will be: September - mid-October, 3:30PM - 5:30PM mid-October - November, 3:30PM - 5PM More about the workshop: This workshop takes place at the KoKo NYC Lot located at 440 19th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215, between 8th Ave and Prospect Park West The workshop will take place fully outdoors There is a port-a-potty onsite for bathroom use Kids will use handsaws, battery-operated drills, and other tools in this workshop KoKo NYC workshops are an inclusive environment where all kids are welcome!
