About this event

Join us on September 18 at 3:15pm for a family movie! Inside Riley’s mind, characters representing her emotions help her navigate life using the “control center” in her mind. When her parents announce she has to move away from her friends and hockey team, her control center that controls her feelings goes haywire! Joy and Sadness, opposite emotions, must work together to save Riley! Closed captions CC will be provided during every movie showing. Coloring pages, crossword puzzles, and wordsearches related to the films will be available during the program. The movie may end early to fit a 1.5 hour timeframe and to accommodate branch closing at 5pm. Parents must remain nearby for the duration of the program and not leave younger children unattended.

This program will take place indoors at the West New Brighton Library. Join our partners from Literacy in Community (LINC) for a series of interactive caregiver workshops and playtimes to learn ways to support children's development through fun! From LINC: This workshop helps parents strengthen their baby’s early communication skills through responsive interactions. Parents learn the “Serve and Return” concept: engaging in back-and-forth exchanges that build neural connections. Activities include making accordion books, using baby talk, playing with finger puppets, and interactive games that encourage turn-taking. Sessions reinforce these strategies with new activities and discussion, emphasizing the importance of responsive communication in early development. Participants can register here or https://lincnyc.formstack.com/forms/linc_west_new_brighton_library_serve_return26 Want more info?
