A Creative Journey Through Art Mediums I

ColorPop UES @ 91st · Carnegie Hill

This dynamic, hands-on class is perfect for young artists who want to explore a wide range of art mediums and techniques while building strong creative foundations. Students begin by developing essential drawing skills like line, shape, and value, then expand into color and composition through painting, mixed-media collage, and printmaking. As the semester progresses, they’ll dive into three-dimensional forms with our sculpture unit, learning how to bring their ideas to life in new ways. The course culminates in a final project that brings together the various techniques they’ve accumulated to provide a deeper understanding of applying their skills in personal artistic expression. From experimenting with cyanotypes and sewing to creating plaster reliefs, children will be introduced to unique materials rarely offered in traditional classrooms, encouraging curiosity, confidence, and creative problem-solving.
