About this event

Does your child love to sing, dance AND perform? Have an interest in the world of musical theatre? This is the class for your child! Each week our theatre professional will introduce our aspiring actors to scenes and songs from Broadway and movie musicals as well as choreography by current and past Broadway musicals that may include Matilda, Finding Neverland, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, School of Rock, Annie, etc. They will also participate in theater games, learn improvisation, and sing songs inspired by these great kid-friendly musicals. They will also begin to explore scene work and character development. Each semeser ends with a show and tell for family and friends. This is a must for any theatre lover, dancer or singer!

A perfect first class for the youngest dancers. This class will focus on the basic fundamentals of Ballet and Dance for our youngest dancers. Focus will be on musicality, self expression, increasing body awareness, and helping kids “express themselves through dance”. I truly believe in dance as an outlet for kids both physically and emotionally. Children will gain a sense of self confidence and a love of dance through the joys of learning basic ballet vocabulary. A fun and safe environment for all!! All semesters end with a SHOW AND TELL for parents, caregivers and friends and family. This is a drop off class.

If your child has developed a love for Ballet and taken our Intro to ballet class or something similar this is the next step. This class will focus on developing and further study the basic fundamentals of Ballet and Ballet positions. A big part of the class will be in “expressing yourself through dance”, where kids will use the steps they’ve learned to “dance how they feel” and begin to really apply their understanding of ballet vocabulary. A perfect class for our slightly older dancers to work on self-confidence, mastery of ballet steps, flexibility, balance, self-expression and musicality in a fun, safe environment! All semesters end with a SHOW AND TELL for parents, caregivers and friends and family.

Intro to Musical Theatre (3.5 - 5.5)

Do you have a little ham at home who loves to sing, dance and act? This is the class for them! In this class your child will get a taste of everything from the wonderful world of musical theatre. Each week our theatre professional takes your child on a physical and imaginative journey inspired by a stage or movie musical. Kids will warm up their bodies and learn the fundamentals of dance and participate in theatre games and exercises to learn all about the stage, creating characters and using, singing, dancing and acting to help tell a story. The class ends with a fun show and tell for parents and friends. At I Can Do That NYC, we believe in the arts as a way to give kids the ability to express themselves, work on listening and following directions and explore their imaginations in all things artistic. This is the perfect launching pad to fuel a child's curiosity in the arts. Emphasis will be placed on body awareness, confidence building, self-expression and listening while exploring the fundamentals of creative movement.
