Stories, games, and other activities help kids develop their fine and gross motor skills. They also learn social skills and preschool readiness skills including sharing, listening, focusing, and participating. Please sign up for each week’s class separately.

📣 Calling all Pokémon trainers! 📣 Join Mr. Jake and Miss Michela for LBPL Youth Services' Pokémon Club! We will be learning the basics of the Pokémon Trading Card game. All materials will be provided by the library, including cards, but please feel free to bring your own cards. Pokémon novices and masters alike are welcome. Please note that the intent of this program is to play the card game. Card trading may be done before or after the program.

Come hang out while squishing, smooshing, rolling and flattening homemade play dough! When a child uses play dough, they build strength in their hands and increase fine motor skills. This strength will make them ready for pencil and scissor control later in life. Please register each participant individually to ensure we have enough supplies for everyone.

Bilingual Movie Night: Coco

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Long Beach Latino Civic Association and Long Beach Public Library present this bilingual family feature: Disney's Coco (in English with Spanish subtitles). Aspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer. 2017, Rated PG, 1hr 45min Children are encouraged to stop by the Youth Services Department before the screening to color a wooden folk guitar that will be displayed in our Youth Services Gallery (while supplies last).
