Strange Confessions: A New Play Reading

Riverside Park — 102nd Street Field House · Manhattan

Summer on the Hudson presents a staged reading of Strange Confessions, a new play by Laura MacLean. Peyton is an eccentric writer, who suffers from chronic agoraphobia. When life in NYC gets to be too much for her, she withdraws into the safe haven of her apartment. As a result of recent construction in the building, the air vent system has created a virtual telephone effect through Peyton’s centrally located kitchen vent. Consequentially, Peyton learns about her neighbors most private secrets and scandals. Living anonymously in a rambling pre-war apartment building, the inhabitants’ struggles paint a larger picture of what everyone ultimately wishes for. Laura MacLean is an accomplished singer, song-writer and actress. Having begun her performance career in the music arena, her gift for story-telling broadened into play-writing in the early 2000's. With her music, Laura toured overseas, was named a Gibson artist for her Single when To Let It Go, and played for audiences from 100 to 11,000- opening for various acts in Hawaii, New Zealand, the U.K. and here in the states. Back in New York, she was cast in various musical projects and earned her Equity membership. Additionally, she is a member of the Dramatists Guild. This event takes place in the newly-renovated 102nd Street Field House. Enter the Park at 103rd Street and Riverside Drive, then descend to the promenade level. The stairs to the Field House are across the promenade at 102nd Street. Register for the event here.
