About this event

What to expect in class:It’s all about opposites: loud and quiet, fast and slow, up and down! Contrasting ‘themes’ help your child learn better ways to communicate. We move across the bridge sllowwwly and then fast! They'll learn how to control body movements and use their body to navigate and problem solve across monkey bars, giant cushions, and through little tunnels. We’ll also practice repetition and routine with regular parachute and bubble activities. Soon your little one will be leading the Gymbo Dance!Benefits:Physical: Exploration of the different equipment supports problem solving, navigating skills, and confidence.Cognitive: Repetition, songs, and interacting with their familiar adult supports language development, vocabulary, and memory.Social: Our classroom environment supports social and emotional development.Adults: Need your little one to take a good nap? Crawl through tunnels, explore different textures, slide down slides (or climb up slides!), toddle over bridges, or take a ride in a swing!! We’ll also practice social skills and memory building through sing-alongs and group-play.

In this storytelling and movement class, children will explore basic elements of creative expression, taking inspiration from beloved children's books. Expanding their sense of community, children will work together to create original movement pieces that celebrate a season, a tale, emotions, and cultures around the world. Movement and story help to build language, motor skills, strength in pre-literacy, and social-emotional awareness. This class is taught by lifetime Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan member and Upper West Sider Roberta Kastelic. Roberta teaches creative movement, ballroom dancing, and directs and choreographs children's musicals in public and private schools, working with a variety of age groups from toddlers to pre-teens.

15 Thursdays (except Nov 26, Dec 24, + Dec 31) Our Dolphins 3 - Advanced class is the last stop for drop-off group swim in the training pool! This class focuses on water safety and increasing confidence in skills to take your swimmer to the next level. Dolphins 3 will introduce advanced skills such as side breathing, freestyle and backstroke. Prerequisite: Children MUST be able to fully submerge from an independent jump, float without assistance, swim short distances underwater on their own, and tread for 10 seconds.
