They will start by interpreting and creating number sentences using the equal sign correctly. For instance, understanding that in a correct equation, the amount on one side of the equal sign must be the same as the amount on the other side. Process Skills in Problem Solving : Students will develop competency in thinking skills and problem solving heuristics through meaningful and challenging activities such as Make a Systematic List, Visualization, Before-After Concept, Guess and Check, Replacement Concept, Look For A Pattern (Numbers and Shapes), Draw a Diagram.
