The VEX IQ Competitive Team is designed for students who are ready to take their robotics skills beyond the classroom and participate in high-level competition. This program is intended for students who demonstrate strong technical ability, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and the motivation to continuously improve throughout the season. Students work together to design, build, program, and optimize a competition robot while learning advanced engineering concepts, coding techniques, strategic thinking, and effective team collaboration. Team members are expected to take an active role in the engineering design process, testing, troubleshooting, and preparing for tournament competition. Competitive Team students will: Design, build, and program a VEX IQ competition robot Develop advanced skills in robotics engineering, coding, and problem-solving Learn game strategy, robot optimization, and competition preparation Collaborate with teammates to solve complex engineering challenges Maintain engineering documentation and participate in team planning Compete in 4–6 local VEX IQ tournaments throughout the season Pursue qualification for and compete at the New Jersey State Robotics Championship This program is ideal for students who are committed to developing their robotics skills at a competitive level and are ready to take on greater responsibility within a team environment. Students will be challenged to think critically, innovate, and perform under competitive conditions while building the technical and leadership skills essential for future success in STEM fields. Participation requires consistent attendance, dedication to team goals, and a willingness to contribute both during practices and at competitions. *Make-ups and cancellations: For semester registrations, only one make-up class per month is allowed with a 24hr cancellation notice. Late cancellation fee: If a client provides less than 24 hours' notice and wishes to schedule a makeup class, 50% of the class fee will be charged and processed through their Sawyer account. *Payment Plan: For semester registrations, payments can be paid in full or split into monthly installments. The monthly installments can be paid only through the HiSawyer registration platform. Please note that a 5% surcharge applies when selecting a monthly installment plan. *One-time Payment: Parents can make a full, upfront payment via Check, Zelle, or Cash, avoiding the 3% processing fee from HiSawyer.
