Explore your artistic potential with Creative Aging, a series of art workshops for adults 50 and older. This program will be held in person at Kips Bay Library. Program Description: Participants will find the joy of poetry, expression, movement, music, and storytelling while learning about Bharatanatyam, a 2,000-year-old dance form that originated in South India. The teaching artist will highlight the narrative and descriptive aspects of Bharatanatyam by featuring poetry and literature that reflects the East Harlem community. Participants will also create group stories and poems on the themes discussed. All sessions are beginner-friendly and no prior experience in dance or poetry is required. Participants are welcome to join any session as they prefer. Every Wednesday at 12:30–1:30 p.m. Full calendar: 04/15/26 12:30–1:30 p.m. 04/22/26 12:30–1:30 p.m. 04/29/26 12:30–1:30 p.m. 05/06/26 12:30–1:30 p.m. 05/13/26 12:30–1:30 p.m. 05/20/26 12:30–1:30 p.m. This program is built as a progressive journey, attendance at all sessions is recommended. Register ahead of the first session for all events, please call 212-683-2520 if you are unable to make a session. If you are unable to make a majority of the events, or become interested after the start of the series, call to inquire about drop-in availability. Registration is encouraged, but not required. Walkups will be permitted as space accommodates. About the Artist: Sloka Iyengar (pronounced "Shloka") is a neuroscientist and practitioner of an Indian dance form called Bharatanatyam, passionate about relieving suffering through scientific inquiry and artistic expression. About Creative Aging: Creative Aging is a series of free art classes for adults 50 and older. This year, in person programs are available from branches throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island. We are pleased to announce that The New York Public Library is piloting very limited notary services, at no cost. This service is available in person, only at the Kips Bay Library Walk in Notary Service. No Appointment Required! First Come, First Served Fridays, 10am -11:45am (subject to change/cancellation without prior notice) Please bring a valid form of ID and the documentation, fully filled out, except for signature. Signing must happen in front of the notary. The notary can not notarize the following documents Any documents in languages other than English Real Estate Documents including but not limited to: Deeds, Mortgages, Satisfaction of Mortgages, Lease Agreements, Purchasing Agreements, Titles, Liens, Releases, Real Estate Contracts and Disclosures.
