About this event

In 17th-century New England, religious beliefs and folk traditions instilled deep fears of magic, evil, and supernatural powers. Feel your spine tingle on this special tour experience that unravels the mysteries of Fairfield’s witchcraft trials. Together, we will visit the remnants of a pond where women accused of witchcraft were interrogated by “ducking.” Then, experience a live performance about the women who endured panicked accusations and unearth why Fairfield’s story was so different from what happened in Salem. Enjoy bewitching seasonal sweets as part of this haunting evening. Registration is required. Members: $30; Non-Members: $35. Program Details Pre-registration is required—no drop-ins will be allowed. No physical ticket will be mailed. Check in using your name. Tours are approximately 60 minutes long and will depart on their ghostly journey promptly at 6:30 PM. Tours will meet at Fairfield Museum lobby. This program is recommended for adults and kids ages 12 and up. Restrooms will be available at the Fairfield Museum. Personal photography is permitted at Museum programs. Continuous audio or video recording of our programs is not permitted. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. We will be standing and walking for extended periods, mostly on grassy areas throughout the Museum Commons. In case of inclement weather, the Fairfield Museum will make every effort to reschedule the tour. Please check the Fairfield Museum website (www.fairfieldhistory.org) for weather-related updates. No refunds will be given unless the program is cancelled by the Fairfield Museum.

On the morning of September 22, 1776, Nathan Hale was killed by the British for being a spy for the Continental Army. Hale was designated the Connecticut State Hero in 1985. Join Anne Marie Charland, Museum Administrator of the Nathan Hale Homestead, to trace the story of Nathan Hale and the family who shaped him from small town boy to a Revolutionary War hero. Discover Hale’s life growing up on a farm, his time at Yale College, his advocacy for women’s education, and his fateful decision to become an intelligence officer for General Washington. $5 suggested donation. About the Speaker Anne Marie Charland has been working in the fields of history and tourism for over 20 years. Her career started in marketing and public relations for the Greater Hartford Tourism District and later the Northeast Visitors District. She joined the Connecticut Landmarks team at Nathan Hale Homestead in Coventry, CT in 2012 and has been the museum administrator since 2017. She has also curated exhibits, facilitated programs, and been a consultant at museums throughout Connecticut.

Using simple, everyday materials, you will explore how wind can create energy while testing your turbine’s design, speed, and efficiency. Advanced Art is for all students who have completed Art 1, Art 2 and Art 3. It is for students at the Art 4 level or higher. Students begin or continue their independent journey of creativity! Advanced Art students will first develop a personal theme in the first two classes. Teachers will guide and challenge the theme for growth. Students will strive to complete 3 to 5 projects, depending on the scope of work that is involved for each project. The skills your child has developed so far will be taken to an entirely new level!
