About this event

Creative Movement introduces young movers to the world of dance through engaging games, playful prompts and guided explorations in a safe, structured and supportive environment. Classes stimulate and develop creativity and imagination through engagement with props, imagery, sensations and sound. Students will hone developmental skills that enhance coordination, improvisation, musicality, team work, listening, creativity, and composition. Note: This class will culminate in an open class during Family Observation Week, there is no formal performance. Tiered Tuition Options: Dancewave uses a tiered tuition system in an effort to disrupt the systemic inequities that often lead to financial limitations that prevent people from accessing quality dance education. Classes are listed at Tier 1, but we encourage you to select the rate that best meets your unique needs by entering either of the following codes at checkout. This intermediate level class is ideal for students who have taken at least 2-3 years of ballet classes. Students will continue to refine and correct their posture, placement and turn out, while further developing their knowledge of complex positions of the body, coordination with port de bras, strength, musicality, and artistry. Students will continue to refine their strength, release, groundedness and suspension, while further developing their technical skills, knowledge of terminology, musicality and spatial awareness. Note: This class will culminate in an open class during Family Observation Week, there is no formal performance. A fun introduction to ballet for movers of all levels! Ballet Fundamentals introduces young dancers to the joys and principles of ballet in an inclusive and supportive environment. Students will develop knowledge of and practice with ballet terminology, body alignment, appropriate turn out, coordination, and flexibility. Along with building strength and poise, students will explore their artistry through musicality and developmentally appropriate technical skills. Note: This class will culminate in an open class during Family Observation Week, there is no formal performance. We recommend taking this class in conjunction with our Contemporary Fundamentals/Creative Modern Ensemble offering on Tuesday's to enhance skill building, creative choice-making, and teamwork, with an opportunity for performance!
