This intermediate level class is ideal for students who have taken at least 1-2 years of modern or contemporary dance classes. Students will continue to refine their strength, release, groundedness and suspension, while further developing their technical skills, knowledge of terminology, musicality and spatial awareness. Note that this is an open Dancewave Company Program class, all are welcome to join. Tiered Tuition Options: Dancewave uses a tiered tuition system in an effort to disrupt the systemic inequities that often lead to financial limitations that prevent people from accessing quality dance education. 2025-2026 Contemporary Fundamentals / Creative Modern Ensemble

When enrolling in Contemporary Fundamentals / Creative Modern Ensemble, dancers are automatically enrolled in Dancewave’s Creative Modern Ensemble (CME). Contemporary Fundamentals/CME serves as a prerequisite for young dancers to enter Dancewave’s more rigorous Youth Company Program (which encompasses Youth Modern Company and Dancewave Companies I, II, and III). Members of CME will learn foundational contemporary dance technique and participate in team-building activities and processes. They will gain familiarity with dance studio expectations, behavior, and culture, ensuring they are prepared to enter Youth Modern Company when developmentally appropriate. During the spring semester dancers will work with their choreographer to collaboratively create a new dance piece with an invitation to perform as special guests in Dancewave’s Spring Celebration performance. (Tentative Date: Weekend of May 30th 2026) This is a year-long enrollment. The 2025-2026 Dancewave school year will run September 8, 2025- May 30, 2026. Required Class (included in this registration): Tuesday, 3:45pm-4:30pm: Contemporary Fundamentals / Creative Modern Ensemble Rehearsal Additional Recommended Class (must register separately) : Thursday, 4:00pm-4:45pm: Ballet Fundamentals (Register HERE ). Dancers in the Dancewave Youth Company Program are expected to maintain excellent attendance at all classes, rehearsals, performances, and external opportunities. A fun introduction to ballet for movers of all levels! Ballet Fundamentals introduces young dancers to the joys and principles of ballet in an inclusive and supportive environment. Students will develop knowledge of and practice with ballet terminology, body alignment, appropriate turn out, coordination, and flexibility. Along with building strength and poise, students will explore their artistry through musicality and developmentally appropriate technical skills. We recommend taking this class in conjunction with our Contemporary Fundamentals/Creative Modern Ensemble offering on Tuesday's to enhance skill building, creative choice-making, and teamwork, with an opportunity for performance!
