Acting Out Your Books is a fun, playful introduction to theatre for 6-8-year-olds! Our students will be introduced to the act of play and utilizing their imaginations to bring story books to life in the classroom as a team. Once they have become familiar with a story as a group, they will choose costumes and props to give life to each tale and use them to make the characters tangible. The following weeks will bring music & choreography into aid in the telling of the story. Each semester covers 4 different stories. This class is perfect for students' first steps towards becoming comfortable and confident in public speaking & stage presence. The class will also learn basic theatre terms & stage direction. This class will take place at Stage Left North in Tappan.

The Lion King KIDS features classic songs from the Broadway musical and animated feature film, including “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “He Lives in You,” and “Hakuna Matata.” Young performers will also get the chance to learn a wide range of new theatrical skills—such as mask-making and puppetry—encouraging them to explore this beloved story with creativity and pride. Role placement is held on the first day of the workshop through an audition process. Every child receives a role and is involved; there are lead characters, supporting, and ensemble. Class time is rehearsal time - students are expected to practice and memorize lines throughout the week so that they come prepared to rehearse during class. Please note this class only meets on Saturdays, except for Tech rehearsal & Performance. A title known the world over, Elf The Musical JR. is a must-produce holiday musical that can easily become an annual tradition for any theatre. Based on the cherished New Line Cinema hit, Elf JR. features songs by Tony Award-nominees, Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Tony Award-winners, Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin. Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. This modern-day holiday classic is sure to make every young performer embrace his or her "inner elf" with plenty of large ensemble numbers featuring elves and (New Yorkers) of every type.
