BGL’s After School sessions are held every weekday during the school year at both of our locations: Center Slope (310 7th Ave) - An amazing sampling of all our best games! South Slope (479 7th Ave) - Perfect for D&D fans, plus gamers of all passions! After School attendees get the opportunity to play everything we offer! Each child samples a variety of our best games at the start of the year, then tells us their favorites. From that point onward, we offer two to three activities at each location per day, sorting each player into their most preferred game. Activities include: Board Games Dungeons & Dragons Outdoor Games (including Battle Lab!) Design Your Own Game And MORE! Become an Immortal & play the Immortal Games! After School kids get the opportunity to participate in one of BGL’s most unique and exciting offerings: the Immortal Games! Attendees earn daily merits for their behavior, designs, and achievements. When they earn enough merits, they level up and join one of our five Immortal Houses, teams with distinct characteristics that foster collaboration and companionship. The five Houses compete every year in our Immortal Games! This special experience combines strategy and storytelling, and kids shape the narrative via the choices they make. With hundreds of players and thousands of moves each year, it’s one of the world’s biggest games. SCHEDULE AND PICKUP This after school program meets at our Center Slope location, 310 7th Ave @ 8th St, once a week, from 3:30 – 6:00 pm, with an option for extended day. We offer school pick up at select schools at school dismissal. Register for school pick up with your after school program registration. School pickup available from: PS 321, PS 39, PS 118, PS 133, PS 282, PS 372, St. Saviour, Epic Academy, and Brooklyn Friends School. Add-ons: School pickup: $15 per session Extended day until 6:30 pm: $20 per session Our after school programs are not held on days when public school is closed, including for inclement weather. These closures are factored into the program fee. COST The first installment is charged upon registration; subsequent installments are charged on the 1st of the upcoming months. The last charge is on the first of the last month of the semester. If you register after the start of the school year, your fee is prorated. Discounts available: Enrolling multiple days or siblings? Get 5% off all enrollments if you book more than one! Make sure you include all sessions in the same cart to receive this discount. If you need to change your day, location or program during the school year, just let us know! We accommodate changes at no charge, as long as there is availability. If you know your child will be absent for registered sessions, let us know. We can schedule "advance make ups" as well as make ups after the absence. Cancellation of enrollment before the end of the semester may result in an early termination fee of $20 per month enrolled. No one-shots or bottle episodes here, we're all about the growth and development of characters, story, and world over time. It's campaign time! Never played D&D? No problem! We support kids as they learn this highly-creative game. Advanced players also find their peeps here! SCHEDULE This is a subscription program that meets Fridays from 7pm-9:30pm. Drop-ins are not available; this is a long-term campaign with recurring characters in a consistent world. PAYMENTS This program is paid by recurring monthly payment of $165/month. After your first subscription payment (collected upon registration), payments are charged at the beginning of the month. ABOUT THE PROGRAM Ready for some exciting Magic: the Gathering competition? Kids get new Magic packs, build great decks and play matches every Friday night. They earn points for each win, and the one with the most points at the end of each season (February and June) gets a prize! If your child joins this program after the first session, we configure points to make sure they are still a contender for the season finale prize. Cards distributed during the program must remain at the Lab for duration of season. Kids can take them home at the end of the season. This program is designed for kids who know basic MTG play and rules. Winter League runs September - January. Spring League runs February - June. SCHEDULE This subscription program meets Fridays from 7pm-9pm. Due to the ongoing competitive nature of Magic League, drop-in registration is not available, but players may join the league after the beginning of the season. COST Friday Night Magic League is a subscription program costing $165/month. The subscription fee includes free MTG packs set aside for participants of the program and ensures we can plan to have enough packs for everyone. MAKEUPS If you know your child will be absent for Magic League, let us know. LIFE SKILLS THROUGH GAMEPLAY As featured in U.S. News and School Library Journal , our Social Skills program on Saturdays teaches children emotional regulation, cooperation, and executive functioning through immersive Dungeons & Dragons gameplay. We encourage children to reach goals while immersed in a fantastic experience. Kids work as a group on an imaginative and exciting quest. Collaboration and communication is facilitated and supported through all aspects of the program by our specially-trained counselors. Social Skills + D&D accepts participants on a rolling basis --you can join at any time during the school year! PROGRESS THROUGH PLAY When kids arrive, we assist with their transition into the gaming space. Empowered with information collected from intake questionnaires, our experienced instructors connect with each student to review the goals for the session. Once they’ve been acclimated and are ready to engage, BGL “Dungeon Masters” will lead each table’s session of Dungeons & Dragons. This highly imaginative, cooperative, and story-driven game gives children a vehicle to exercise their social skills as they work together to overcome challenges. This program is staffed exclusively with our most talented "Dungeon Masters" who approach every situation with compassion and patience, and has a student-to-staff ratio that ensures that your child receives full attention, reassurance, and feedback. We’re here to help your child navigate forging friendships, encountering hardships, and utilizing coping skills. During gameplay, our team will be on-hand for physical activity breaks, emotional support and to continually connect with your child on their goals. Each parent will receive regular updates via email detailing their individual child’s choices, struggles, and achievements. We’re always ready to have a discussion on ways to better support your child’s unique needs. Kids with no experience with D & D and those more experienced are welcome.
