About kids' events in Park Slope
One of Brooklyn's most kid-saturated neighborhoods, Park Slope sits right on the edge of Prospect Park, which means you have actual park access in every direction, not just a pocket square of grass. J.J. Byrne Playground, on Fifth Avenue at 3rd Street, is the go-to for toddlers: gated little-kid area, spray features in summer, and enough benches for the adults to actually breathe. On rainy days, the Park Slope branch of Brooklyn Public Library has a kids' section that takes up nearly half the first floor, plus free storytimes that are worth putting on your calendar. The neighborhood runs on strollers. Seventh Avenue on a weekend morning is basically a parade of them, and the flat blocks closest to the park are genuinely easy to navigate on foot. Multiple subway lines serve the area, so getting to other parts of the city without a car is not a project. Studios like Brooklyn Arts Exchange and Dad Camp add to a dense calendar of classes built specifically for the under-five set. With 354 upcoming events and 12 active local studios, there is rarely a week where you have nothing to choose from.
