A densely residential Queens neighborhood with a Latino majority and a long history of immigrant families, Corona has a lot going for it when you have a small kid in tow. The big draw is Flushing Meadows Corona Park right on the eastern edge of the neighborhood, one of the largest parks in the city, with multiple playgrounds, a carousel, and the Queens Zoo all within it. For a low-key weekday morning, the Queens Public Library Corona branch on 104th Street runs storytimes and kids' programs and is a solid go-to. Smaller neighborhood parks and playgrounds are spread throughout the blocks between Roosevelt Avenue and Corona Avenue, so you're rarely far from somewhere to let a toddler loose. Getting around without a car is genuinely doable here: the 7 train runs above Roosevelt Avenue with stops right in the neighborhood, and several bus routes connect to the rest of Queens. Weekends bring out the street vendors and energy around Corona Plaza, which can be a lot of fun with a kid on your shoulders. NYC Parks and Mommy Poppins both post events in the area regularly, so there's usually something on the calendar beyond what you'd find just wandering around.
