Families are a constant presence on stoops and sidewalks, and the commercial strips along 18th Avenue and 86th Street have bakeries, greengrocers, and casual lunch spots that work fine with a toddler in tow. For outdoor time, Bensonhurst Park sits at Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue with a renovated playground that has separate areas for little kids, spray features, and accessible swings for under-fives. The New Utrecht Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library on 86th Street has a dedicated children's area, making it a reliable rainy-day fallback. NYC Parks runs programming in the area, and Green Apron Kitchen has brought events here too. Getting around is manageable: the D and N subway lines run through the neighborhood, and the flat grid of streets holds up fine on foot with a stroller.
