About kids' events in Prospect Lefferts Gardens
PLG sits right on the eastern edge of Prospect Park, which means the park's playgrounds, carousel, and splash pads are a short walk from most addresses in the neighborhood. The Lincoln Road and Parkside Avenue subway stations put the 2, 5, B, and Q trains within a few blocks, so getting around with a stroller is manageable even without a car. On weekends the residential blocks feel calm and low-traffic, all brownstones and tree-lined streets, while Flatbush Avenue keeps things convenient for errands and Caribbean takeout. Inside the neighborhood, the Brooklyn Public Library's Crown Heights branch on New York Avenue is a practical stop for storytime and picture books. The Prospect Park zoo, the Lefferts Historic House children's museum, and multiple playgrounds along the park's perimeter are all easily reachable on foot. On the calendar right now there are 16 upcoming events, with programming from NYC Parks, Discovery Kids, and Brooklyn Public Library, along with drop-in classes from World Martial Arts Center Happy Kicks. The mix skews toward toddler-aged activities, so there is usually something relevant for a barely-walking one-year-old or a just-turned-four-year-old who wants to run around with other kids.
