About kids' events in Old Westbury
Most of Old Westbury is quiet, leafy, and residential, with long blocks between destinations. If you are visiting with a small kid, the practical move is to drive. Parking is easy at town parks and the local library branch, and you will want a car seat ready. Sidewalks exist on some streets but not all, so a stroller works for short walks around a playground rather than errands. This area sits inside Nassau County’s car-first grid, but the Long Island Rail Road is nearby if you want to head west into the city or east to another town. Most free toddler programming happens through town recreation departments and independent public libraries, so check their monthly calendars for story times and open play sessions. A couple of playgrounds within a short drive offer slides and swings, and bigger town parks have open fields where a 2 year old can run freely. Right now our calendar lists nothing in Old Westbury. That may change as studios and library events get added, but for today, plan on nearby towns for structured classes. Old Westbury works best as a home base: quiet mornings, easy parking, and a short drive to wherever the action is.
