Kids' Events in Morrisania

About kids' events in Morrisania

A low-key South Bronx neighborhood made up mostly of apartment buildings and pre-war residential blocks, Morrisania is a genuinely kid-populated place. Crotona Park, just a short walk from the neighborhood's edge, is one of the bigger green spaces in this part of the Bronx, with multiple play areas and a public pool in summer. Closer to home, the New York Public Library's Morrisania branch on East 169th Street is a real anchor here: it has a dedicated children's collection on the second floor and runs programs for young kids throughout the year. The 2 and 5 subway lines serve the area, and the B and D trains stop at 167th Street on the Grand Concourse, putting you about 25 to 30 minutes from Midtown by rail. Bus service is solid too, though most trips with a stroller mean navigating stairs at the subway, so many families stick to the bus or just walk. With 29 upcoming events on the calendar, including programming from NYC Parks and the New York Public Library branches, there is a steady rhythm of free and low-cost activities for the under-five crowd here.
