About kids' events in Glendale
A quiet, residential corner of western Queens, Glendale has the kind of low-key pace that makes life with a toddler more manageable than chaotic. Brick rowhouses and two-family homes line the streets, traffic stays mostly light, and the families here tend to stick around for years. For outdoor time, Forest Park runs along the neighborhood's southern edge with good open space and room for small kids to roam. Right in the neighborhood, the Maranzano Glendale Playground on Central Avenue has water play features and accessible equipment. The Queens Public Library branch on 73rd Place is the go-to for rainy-day storytimes and is one of the active programming partners you'll see on this calendar. Getting around takes some planning. Bus lines run through the area, and J, M, and Z subway stops are nearby, but most families drive or walk locally for everyday errands. The narrow side streets actually work in your favor, keeping through-traffic down and the blocks calm. Weekends lean quiet, with a backyard-and-park pace that suits the under-five set well. NYC Parks and A Sprinkle of Fun both bring programming here, so there's more going on than the sleepy streets let on.
