Kids' Events in Jamaica

About kids' events in Jamaica

Queens' southeastern anchor, Jamaica is a low-rise residential neighborhood built around one of the borough's best transit hubs. The E, J, and Z trains and the LIRR all meet here, which makes it genuinely easy to get in and out without a car, stroller in tow. For outdoor time, Rufus King Park on Jamaica Avenue is a solid green anchor in the neighborhood, with open lawns and room to run. Jamaica Playground on Union Hall Street is another local spot for younger kids. The Queens Central Library on Merrick Boulevard is a real standout. Its Children's Library Discovery Center is a 22,000-square-foot building with hands-on science and discovery stations built for kids aged 3 and up, essentially a free mini-museum attached to a library. The South Jamaica branch runs its own programming too, and both Queens Public Library locations show up regularly on this calendar. Organizations like NYC Parks and Dance Expression add to the weekly rhythm. With 53 upcoming events across the area, there is a steady mix of things to show up for, and the library alone could fill a rainy afternoon for months.
