Kids' Events in Rye

About kids' events in Rye

Getting out of the house in Rye with a toddler is mostly about picking a spot and letting the day unfold. The local library branch is a reliable first stop, with storytimes that show up regularly on our calendar, and the Rye Nature Center gives you a chance to wander trails and let a little one poke at sticks and leaves. Playland Park is the big outdoor anchor, open space where you can burn energy without much planning. The Rye YMCA runs mixed age classes for the zero to four set, and Sounds Good Westchester brings music and guitar sessions into the mix. You will also find art and a bit of movement scattered through the listings, plus a handful of cooking and dance options when you want something different. Getting around is car-first, with parking usually easy at the bigger venues, and Metro-North running south if you want to head into the city. A couple of playgrounds sit within a short walk of the downtown spots, so you can string together a library stop and a swing session in one morning. Expect a slower pace here, and plan on driving between the main destinations.
