Kids' Events in Midtown

About kids' events in Midtown

Midtown Manhattan is a lot of things at once: office towers, tourists, honking cabs. But there's more going on for families than it first looks. Bryant Park sits right in the middle of it all and is genuinely useful with a toddler, with open lawn space, a carousel, and room to just let a kid run. The NYPL's Stavros Niarchos Foundation branch on Fifth Avenue has a dedicated children's center and free programming, worth knowing about on a rainy Tuesday. The 53rd Street Library branch, a few blocks north, has its own children's room and regular storytimes too. Midtown skews commercial, so most of the families you'll run into here are based in the surrounding sub-neighborhoods like Hell's Kitchen, Murray Hill, or Kips Bay. That means weekends can feel surprisingly quieter than you'd expect given the zip code. Transit is dense, with multiple subway lines converging near Grand Central and Penn Station, though not every station has elevator access, so it pays to check before you go. On the classes front, Carnegie Hall Family runs music programming here that's genuinely aimed at young kids, and CenterStage is also active in the area. Twelve events are currently listed below.
