Queens' Flushing neighborhood packs a surprising amount of kid stuff into a dense, residential-meets-commercial area in north-central Queens. The big anchor is Flushing Meadows Corona Park, a sprawling green space with multiple playgrounds, a splash pad at the Fountain of the Fairs, a carousel, the Queens Zoo, and the New York Hall of Science, which has a dedicated space designed for kids under six. For smaller, closer-to-home days, Bowne Playground and Colden Playground are both within the neighborhood, and the Queens Public Library has several branches here running free storytimes and drop-in programming for toddlers and preschoolers.
