About kids' events in Flushing
Queens' Flushing neighborhood packs a surprising amount of kid stuff into a dense, residential-meets-commercial area in north-central Queens. The big anchor is Flushing Meadows Corona Park, a sprawling green space with multiple playgrounds, a splash pad at the Fountain of the Fairs, a carousel, the Queens Zoo, and the New York Hall of Science, which has a dedicated space designed for kids under six. For smaller, closer-to-home days, Bowne Playground and Colden Playground are both within the neighborhood, and the Queens Public Library has several branches here running free storytimes and drop-in programming for toddlers and preschoolers. On rainy days, Funzy Indoor Playground Family Club is a local play-and-learn spot built specifically with the under-five crowd in mind. The 7 train terminates right in downtown Flushing, which makes getting here from other parts of the city straightforward, and the dense street grid means most errands and activities are reachable on foot with a stroller once you arrive. Weekends downtown can get crowded around Main Street, but the surrounding residential blocks are noticeably quieter.
