About kids' events in Elmhurst
Queens neighborhood Elmhurst sits right in the middle of the borough, and day-to-day life with a toddler here feels pretty grounded. The streets are a mix of low-rise apartment buildings and attached rowhouses, with enough sidewalk space to push a stroller around without too much stress. Getting here without a car is straightforward: the M and R trains stop at Elmhurst Avenue, and the E and F run through the area too. The standout outdoor spot for little kids is Elmhurst Park, a six-acre green space on the site of the old "gas tank" landmark. It has a dedicated toddler play area with climbing structures, slides, and rubber safety surfacing, plus lawns and paths for when you just need to let a one-year-old roam. For storytime and free programming, the Queens Public Library Elmhurst branch is a reliable go-to, and Queens Public Library East Elmhurst runs events as well. The food scene along Broadway skews heavily toward Southeast Asian and Latin American spots, so weekend outings can easily double as lunch. NYC Parks runs programming in the area, which is where a good chunk of the 23 upcoming events on this calendar are coming from.
