A densely residential chunk of the northwest Bronx, Kingsbridge Heights sits alongside the Jerome Park Reservoir, whose stone-edged perimeter makes for a genuinely pleasant walk with a stroller. Green space is real here: Washington's Walk runs along the reservoir's southern edge and has a playground, while Harris Park nearby has multiple playgrounds and sports fields. The neighborhood has a quiet, block-by-block feel on weekdays, with kids and families out on tree-lined streets of prewar apartment buildings. On weekends it stays pretty low-key, which can be a good thing with a toddler in tow. Getting around without a car is doable. The 4 and 1 subway lines are accessible from the neighborhood, and several bus routes run through regularly. Buses connect you to both train lines depending on which direction you're headed. For programming, the NYPL's Jerome Park branch on Eames Place is the neighborhood's own library, a one-story, fully accessible building with free events.
