About this event

Take a slow walk in the park and learn about local flora and fauna with naturalist Debbi Dolan. Nature is very active in the Fall, with bird migrations, changing leaves, and animals getting ready to hibernate. So come out into the crisp air on a nature walk in Van Cortlandt Park where you’ll find it all. Come and “leaf peek” at the oaks, hickories, sugar maples and tulip trees undergoing their color changes. We’ll look for new bird arrivals like the white throated sparrow and the dark eyed juncos, feasting on the abundant seeds, nuts and berries. This walk will meet in front of the Nature Center and follow the trails along the Tibbetts Wetland and the Mill Pond. RSVP Now.

Van Cortlandt Park Alliance invites you to celebrate another great gardening season at our 3rd annual Crunch and Munch event. Bring your friends and family to stuff a scarecrow. Get your hands dirty planting garlic. Rake and crunch leaves to fill our compost bins, and make herb bundles to take home. Create a seasonal craft, enjoy a small snack, wander through the raised beds of the garden and more at the community celebration. Enjoy day full of garden fun, celebration, and community! Old Croton Aqueduct Tour

VCPA and Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct are co-leading this free, easy-to-moderate 3.5 hour walk. We will explore the nature trails of Van Cortlandt Park, learn about its history, and discover the Old Croton Aqueduct within the Park. Wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for some uneven surfaces. Please bring snacks and water. Meet at the Van Cortlandt Golf House. Free parking is available in the first lot on your left as you drive in. Raindate: Sunday, December 6 at 1pm. RSVP Required.
