About kids' events in Throggs Neck
A quiet, mostly residential corner of the Bronx that juts out into the water, Throggs Neck feels more like a low-key outer-borough neighborhood than anything you'd call urban. Streets are lined with single-family homes and small apartment buildings, and on weekends it's the kind of place where kids are actually outside. Ferry Point Park is the big outdoor anchor here, with a playground, open fields, waterfront views, and enough space to really stretch a toddler's legs. The NYPL's Throg's Neck branch on Cross Bronx Expressway Extension runs regular storytime for babies and preschoolers, and the children's room has a beloved Sesame Street mural that small kids genuinely love. There's no subway, so you'll be on the bus or driving, which means the neighborhood rewards families who have a car, though several bus lines connect to the broader Bronx. For organized activities, Throggs Neck Community Church has hosted local kids' programming, and Bronx Shotojuku Traditional Shotokan Karate Do brings structured classes to the area. It's low-key, it's near the water, and it's a lot calmer than most of the city.
