About kids' events in Mount Vernon
Getting out with a small kid in Mount Vernon usually means a short drive or a walk to one of the local parks. You will find a couple of playgrounds within a short walk of most neighborhoods, and the local library branch runs story times and play spaces. For warmer days, Willson’s Woods Park is the big draw, with plenty of grass and shade for a picnic blanket. On our calendar right now, the one active listing there is a swim event called “DJ Days, Willson’s Waves Pool,” run by Westchester County Parks. It is a pool party with music, which works well for toddlers who like splashing and do not need structured swim lessons yet. That is the only thing we have live in Mount Vernon at the moment, so check nearby towns if you want more class options. Getting around is practical: driving is the main way, and parking at parks and pools is usually easy, though Metro-North runs south to the city if you want to switch it up. Keep your swim diapers handy and your schedule flexible, since outdoor programming depends on the weather.
