Kids' Events in Arverne

About kids' events in Arverne

A Queens neighborhood on the Rockaway Peninsula, Arverne sits between the Atlantic Ocean and Jamaica Bay, with flat, wide streets that make getting around with a stroller and a toddler genuinely manageable. The A train stops here, at Beach 67th Street, which is the main way most families arrive and depart. The area has a relaxed, residential feel on weekdays and fills up a bit more on weekends when beachgoers hit the Rockaway boardwalk, just a short walk from most of the neighborhood. Arverne Playground, on Arverne Boulevard between Beach 54th and 56th Streets, is a real local anchor for little kids. The beach itself is another backyard for toddlers in warmer months. For rainy days and indoor programming, two Queens Public Library branches show up on this calendar regularly: the Arverne branch on Beach 54th Street, and the Peninsula branch on Rockaway Beach Boulevard, which runs a Toddler Learning Center series. Both branches are part of Queens Public Library's early learning program, meaning there are age-appropriate books, toys, and drop-in spaces specifically for the under-five crowd. NYC Parks also runs events in the area throughout the year.
