About kids' events in Bedford-Stuyvesant
Bed-Stuy is a sprawling Brooklyn neighborhood of brownstones and tree-lined blocks that has become genuinely popular with young families. Herbert Von King Park is a real anchor for parents with small kids: playgrounds, an outdoor amphitheater, and an arts center all on the same grounds. Tompkins Park and Fulton Park add more green space, each with playground equipment. The Bedford branch of the Brooklyn Public Library runs storytimes and hands-on sessions for babies and toddlers, a solid rainy-day option. Getting around is mostly on foot. The blocks are wide and residential, and many cafes and restaurants are roomy enough for a stroller. Subway access is real but spread out, with the A and C along the south and the G near the north edge, so you will walk a bit to reach a station. On weekends the streets have a relaxed, neighborhood feel rather than a tourist-crowd feel. Studios like Artshack Brooklyn Ceramics and Piao Capoeira are among five local spots running classes here, and there are 93 upcoming events on the calendar right now. This is a neighborhood where you tend to run into other parents just going about the day.
