About kids' events in Yonkers
Getting out with a small kid in Yonkers mostly means leaning on the public library and the county parks. The three Yonkers Public Library branches, Crestwood, Grinton I. Will, and Riverfront, anchor a solid rotation of storytimes and free play sessions. You can hit a morning storytime, then drive a short way to Tibbetts Brook Park for a run around before lunch. Sensory Haven runs movement and sensory classes, so there is a real indoor option when the weather turns. On our calendar right now there are about 140 events, and most fall into storytime, playspace, or movement. Art, theater, and festival days pop up too. Some listings are as simple as "Free Play @ Will" or "Fun Fridays with Imagination Playground," and a few go further afield, like a bat conservancy trip to a city museum. Westchester County Parks handles some of the outdoor programming. Getting around is car-first. Metro-North and Bee-Line buses run through, but parking is easy and most destinations have lots, so you will likely drive between the library and the park. A few playgrounds sit within walking distance of the riverfront branches, but plan the car for most outings.
