About kids' events in Yorkville
Upper East Side Manhattan, tucked between 79th and 96th Streets and running east to the river, Yorkville is a dense, largely residential neighborhood with a lot of young families on the sidewalks. The streets are wide, the blocks are manageable with a stroller, and the Second Avenue subway stations at 86th and 96th Streets make getting downtown quick and easy. Carl Schurz Park sits right at the eastern edge along the East River, and the Catbird Playground at its southern end is a genuine local spot for little kids. The Yorkville branch of the New York Public Library on East 79th Street has its own dedicated children's room upstairs and runs regular storytimes for babies and toddlers. Central Park is just a crosstown bus ride away, and the ancient playground at 85th and Fifth has separate areas for toddlers and older kids. The neighborhood itself skews professional and family-heavy, with a calm, low-tourist weekday feel that makes errands with a one-year-old genuinely manageable. Studios like Tiny Tots Book Club and East Side Dance Co. work out of this area, adding structured options to complement everything outdoors. There are 83 upcoming events and 10 local studios active here right now.
