About kids' events in Hackensack
Getting out with a small kid in Hackensack means leaning on the local library and its green spaces. Johnson Public Library is the anchor for toddler life on our calendar, running nearly all of the current listings. Most of what is happening there is storytime, with four sessions listed, plus art and music classes, a movement group, and even a "Yarn Club for Kids" that works for older toddlers who can handle simple crafts. That is a solid mix for a week when you need somewhere indoors with air conditioning or heat. Outside the library, the area has a couple of playgrounds within a short walk or drive, and Hackensack’s parks are fine for a quick swing session before nap. The downtown is practical, with sidewalks and parking lots, but you will want a car for most outings. NJ Transit buses run through town, but hauling a stroller onto them is a chore. Driving around Bergen County is the default, and parking near the library is easy, which matters when you are carrying a diaper bag and a toddler who just dropped their snack. Plan for car-based trips, then stroll the immediate blocks once you arrive.
