Kids' Events in Fort Greene

About kids' events in Fort Greene

Brooklyn's Fort Greene is the kind of neighborhood where you can make a whole morning out of just leaving the apartment. The centerpiece is Fort Greene Park, a 30-acre green space with two playgrounds inside it, including a toddler-specific one near DeKalb and Washington Park and a larger one with baby swings and sprinklers near the St. Edwards Street entrance. The park also runs free storytime and seasonal kids' concerts, so there's usually something structured on the calendar even before you look at a class listing. When you need to get indoors, Space Club on Waverly Avenue is a multi-floor sensory play space that opened a Fort Greene location in late 2024, with ball pits, climbing, and open space that feels genuinely designed for small kids. Brooklyn Music School and Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX) are both rooted in the neighborhood and run programming for the very young. Transit is easy, with several subway lines accessible near Atlantic Terminal, so getting here from anywhere in Brooklyn takes under 20 minutes. On Saturday mornings the farmers market runs along the park's edge, which makes the whole area feel like a genuine local gathering spot rather than just a commuter corridor.
