French After School Club - Intermediate/Advanced

Mon, Apr 27 · 3:15 PM

LLS - Clinton Hill · Clinton Hill

This class is for children currently enrolled in Dual Language Programs or who have a strong foundation in French. It is built on a clear pedagogical framework that integrates language objectives into every activity. Using project-based learning, storytelling, and collaborative games, students practice more complex vocabulary and grammar in context. Our teachers plan each session around targeted language goals—expanding syntax, refining pronunciation, and encouraging fluid self-expression. Children are encouraged to take risks, explore nuance, and grow as speakers. Small group instruction and peer interaction allow us to differentiate and meet each learner where they are, while keeping the environment playful and creative. Ideal for children ready to deepen their skills and move toward greater fluency.

Sewing and Creating en FrancaisFrom $60

Sewing and Creating en Francais

Thu, Apr 30 · 3:00 PM

LLS - Clinton Hill · Clinton Hill

Sewing is a meditational act, a portal to creativity and self-expression. How wonderful would it be to make your own garments instead of buying them at the store? It has always been such a gift for Liza to be able to sew her own garments, choosing the fabric, the style, and the design. Liza's biggest inspiration is her mother who sewed dresses for her and her sister when they were young. We will explore questions such as: How are fabrics made? Where do they come from? What are natural and synthetic fabrics? What products from nature can be used to dye fabric? How can we reuse a piece of fabric to create a new garment? How do we measure our bodies to make sure that the clothing fits properly? This course will be taught in French.

After you apply we will reach out to invite you to a school tour). You are considering immersing your child in a French preschool - Congratulations! This is an exciting moment and opportunity for your child to grow as a citizen of the world. The Language and Laughter Studio, is an innovative preschool, rooted in curiosity about language and culture, and a deep respect for the Earth. This French Immersion program, with a progressive, play-based approach to learning, has served Francophone and non-Francophone families throughout the city for over 18 years. At LLS, we offer a play-based French Immersion program that combines the founding principles of Progressive Education with a rigorous French language program designed to maintain and foster fluency. Our classrooms offer warm and nurturing spaces for children to expand their thinking, build confidence and resilience, and learn to approach relationships with understanding and empathy. We are a vibrant cultural center partnering with L'Alliance Française of New York to bring Francophone artists to perform in our space, enriching our community with diverse cultural experiences. A cornerstone of our approach is our time spent outdoors—several full school days each week take place in a nearby park, where children immerse themselves in nature, fostering resilience, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. This experience beautifully complements their indoor learning environment. Nearly all of our children go on to continue their schooling in Dual Language Elementary programs in both private and public schools throughout New York City. Our school serves children ages 1 to 5 with four distinct classrooms: Les Tous Petits - Ages 1-2 La Petite Section - Ages 2-3 La Moyenne Section - Ages 3-4 La Grande Section - Ages 4-5 The school day runs from 9:30am to 2:30pm. Families have the option of adding Early Drop Off (8:30am to 9:30am) and Atelier (2:30pm to 4:00 or 5:00pm) to extend their child's school day as they wish.
