About kids' events in Boerum Hill
A small, low-key Brooklyn neighborhood of brownstone rowhouses and tree-lined blocks, Boerum Hill has a pace that actually works well with a toddler in tow. The streets are flat and wide enough that pushing a stroller down Dean or Bergen doesn't feel like an obstacle course. Boerum Park, tucked between Smith and Hoyt Streets, is the neighborhood's own playground and a reliable spot for an afternoon out. The New York Transit Museum is right here too, and its vintage subway cars are legitimately thrilling for small kids. Multiple subway lines, including the F, G, A, C, 2, and 3, are all within a short walk, so getting in and out without a car is genuinely easy on weekdays and weekends alike. Smith Street has cafes where you can stop and feed a hungry two-year-old without feeling rushed. On the classes side, providers like NikosKids and Brooklyn Ballet bring structured programming into the neighborhood, adding to the 175 events currently on the calendar. Boerum Hill is small enough that you can make a whole morning of it, playground to coffee, without anyone melting down in a cab.
