About kids' events in Darien
You can build a whole morning in Darien around the Darien Library, which anchors most of the toddler programming here. Storytimes appear constantly on the calendar, more than twenty in the coming weeks, alongside movement classes, a few science sessions, and music time. A title like "Puzzle Play!" gives you a sense of the hands-on, low-pressure style. For days when you need to burn energy before or after, a couple of playgrounds sit within a short walk of the downtown area, and the parks department keeps the local fields and small green spaces in good shape. Getting around is straightforward. You will drive most places, and parking near the library and town center is easy to find. Metro-North runs through town if you want a train day into the city, but for toddler errands, your car does the work. Since Darien absorbs its own villages, the town name is all you need to know when asking another parent where they are headed. Most free or low-cost programs live at the Library itself, so you will see the same faces, which helps on clingy mornings. The calendar now shows about three dozen upcoming events, nearly all at that one dependable spot.
