About kids' events in Ditmas Park
A Brooklyn neighborhood of wide, tree-lined streets and big Victorian houses, Ditmas Park has a slower, more residential pace than most of the borough. Sidewalks are broad and stroller-manageable, and the main commercial strip along Cortelyou Road puts coffee, groceries, and the Brooklyn Public Library's Cortelyou branch all within easy walking distance of each other. The library runs regular programming for little ones, and it's the kind of stop that pairs well with a playground run afterward. Albemarle Playground is a local favorite for the climbing-and-running crowd, and there's a smaller tot lot right on Cortelyou Road that works well for a quick outdoor break mid-errand. Prospect Park is a short trip north if you need more open space. The B and Q trains serve the neighborhood at multiple stops, so getting here or getting out without a car is straightforward. On weekend mornings, Cortelyou Road fills up with families doing the same loop: library, playground, brunch. With 25 upcoming events listed here, from Brooklyn Public Library story times to classes at Brick Children's Community Theatre, there's a reasonable amount going on in a neighborhood that genuinely rewards just showing up and walking around.
