About kids' events in Westfield
Downtown Westfield has a compact main street where you can park once and hit a few stops between activities. A couple of playgrounds sit within a short walk of the shopping blocks, and the local library branch runs free story times and drop-in play sessions that anchor weekday mornings. Our calendar here is small but steady, with six events on tap. Most happen at Small Town Play Café, which hosts the bulk of local programming. Expect cooking classes where toddlers stir, pour, and make a mess someone else cleans up, plus a movement session working on crawling, jumping, and tag games scaled to short legs. There is also Little Engineering, a six-week science series where kids stack, balance, and knock things down in the name of physics. For unstructured play, the café covers that too. Getting here from Manhattan means riding NJ Transit from Penn Station, about 50 minutes, then walking or driving a few blocks. Once you are in town, parking is easy, and most destinations are close enough to skip the car entirely.
