About kids' events in Port Richmond
A North Shore Staten Island neighborhood, Port Richmond runs along a working waterfront and fans out into blocks of rowhouses and single-family homes. It reads as a residential, mostly quiet area where families make up a big chunk of the population and weekends feel low-key rather than chaotic. For outdoor time with a small kid, Faber Park is the standout local option, a waterfront spot on Richmond Terrace with a playground scaled for young children, an outdoor pool open in summer, and views of the Bayonne Bridge. A couple of smaller neighborhood playgrounds sit near the Port Richmond branch of the New York Public Library on Bennett Street, which finished a major renovation and has dedicated programming space for children. Getting around takes some planning. This is Staten Island, so a car makes life easier, though several MTA bus lines run along Port Richmond Avenue with stops close to the library and the main commercial stretch. For events, NYC Parks and Music With Patrick both bring programming into the area, meaning you can usually find something on the calendar without needing to cross into another neighborhood.
