At the far southern tip of Staten Island, Tottenville Beach is a quiet, exclusively residential area bordered on two sides by Conference House Park. Houses have real yards, streets are calm, and weekend mornings with a toddler here feel genuinely unhurried. The main outdoor draw is that park itself, where the Lenape Playground at Swinnerton Street and Billop Avenue has inclusive play elements and swings suited to toddler age. When the weather is warm, a kiddie pool nearby on Hylan Boulevard is only a foot and a half deep, making it one of the more toddler-appropriate water options on this end of the island. For an indoor stop, the Tottenville branch of the New York Public Library on Amboy Road is a landmarked Carnegie building with a solid children's collection. It runs Little Movers Storytime for new walkers and toddlers, followed by open playtime upstairs. No registration needed, first come first served. Getting here without a car is doable: the Staten Island Railway runs to Tottenville station and connects to the ferry. Most local families drive, and parking is easy.
