About kids' events in Sheepshead Bay
A quiet, low-rise corner of southern Brooklyn built around water, Sheepshead Bay has the feel of a neighborhood where people actually stay and raise kids. Brick rowhouses, co-ops, and the waterfront along Emmons Avenue give it a pace that can feel like a relief when you have a toddler in tow. For outdoor time, Sheepshead Playground is a real NYC Parks spot right in the neighborhood. When the weather turns, Rainbow Playspace on Sheepshead Bay Road is a 7,000-square-foot indoor play space with a ball pit, foam pit, slides, and a cafe where you can sit while your kid burns off energy. The Brooklyn Public Library has two branches close by, Sheepshead Bay on East 14th Street and Kings Bay on Nostrand Avenue, making storytime a genuine weekly option. Kings Bay Y also runs regular programming for the under-five crowd. On transit: the B and Q trains stop right here, and the station got brand-new elevators in early 2026, so getting on and off with a stroller is finally straightforward. On weekends the streets are calm, the waterfront is an easy walk, and the fishing boats at the marina give small kids something genuinely interesting to stare at.
