Brooklyn's Prospect Park is one of those rare places where a 526-acre park is basically your backyard. The surrounding neighborhoods, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, and Windsor Terrace, are genuinely built around raising small kids, and it shows on any given morning. Inside the park, the Garfield Tot Lot is designed exclusively for the under-5 crowd: low jungle gym, short slide, a pretend-play shop window, and plenty of benches. The music-themed Harmony Playground has dedicated toddler equipment alongside bigger-kid structures, plus sprinklers in summer and restrooms on-site. Seven playgrounds ring the park's perimeter, so you're rarely far from one. The LeFrak Center at Lakeside adds a splash pad in summer and ice skating in winter. Just outside the park, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden runs programming for families and is steps from the main entrances. The Brooklyn Public Library's Central branch is close by with regular storytime and kids' events. The F and G subway lines serve the area, and the park's 3.3-mile loop is smooth enough to push a stroller the whole way without wrestling with terrain. Weekends fill up fast, especially in warm weather. Come early or lean into it.
